{"id":615,"date":"2018-05-08T14:21:25","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T21:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northidahopac.org\/?page_id=615"},"modified":"2018-05-09T16:44:18","modified_gmt":"2018-05-09T23:44:18","slug":"dont-be-fooled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/northidahopac.org\/?p=615","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t Be Fooled!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Why is it that the folks who always say \u201cfollow the Constitution!\u201d always seem to find a way to break Idaho\u2019s election laws?\u00a0 Earlier this week, a campaign piece hit mailboxes all across our state called \u201cThe Idahoan.\u201d\u00a0 It welcomes readers with the line, \u201cIf you believe that you have certain unalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution, then welcome to your newspaper.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The problem is, this isn\u2019t a newspaper.\u00a0 It is chock-full of endorsements, hit-pieces and propaganda, all designed to favor certain candidates.\u00a0 Under Idaho campaign law, such electioneering communication must be declared to the Idaho Secretary of State within 48 hours of the expenses being incurred, and it must list who paid for it.\u00a0 Neither of these laws were followed &#8211; no declaration was filed with the Secretary of State&#8217;s Office.
